LoVe LeTTerS

Elvis Presley's recording of the song 'Love Letters' (written by Victor Young and Edward Heyman), is one of my favourite songs. Presley's rendition is mellow and somewhat sultry; the lyrics draw you into the message.

'Love Letters straight from your heart,
keep us so near while apart.
I'm not alone in the night,
When I can have all the love that you write.

I memorize every line,
And I kiss the name that you sign.
And then again darling, I read right from the start
Love Letters straight from your heart.'

It is the sweet surprise of a little love note on the window of my car when I head out to work in the morning that warms my heart. A simple sticky note complete with a happy face, left beside the coffee and  a note saying :: 'have a great day, can't wait to see you tonight' ..... always with a quick signature (as if i didn't know who was tugging at my heart)..... R, XO.

When I first started dating Richard I sent him little cards and letters every couple of weeks. Sometimes the cards were very simple..... but they were always a love note. Mixed among the household bills and the advertising flyers were little gifts of love.
I like picking out cards and sometimes go to several stores to get the right one. Needless to say, Richard has a collection of love notes and cards. I bought a memory box for him a few years ago to keep all of his special notes in.

In the age of instant messaging and emails, the art of letter writing has diminished. There is something special about receiving a card or letter with a hand written message versus an email, it just can't be compared. It is a feeling of satisfaction to scribe a note to a lover, to a friend or to someone who needs a hug.

Take a trip to your local papery and treat yourself to the time of exploring the cards and note paper selections. You will be inspired by the images and artwork on the cards or notepaper, and will automatically think of someone in your life to share a message with. Buy pretty coloured notes, seals for the cards and a couple of comfortable pens for writing. Store the selections in a basket in a predominant place so that you are reminded daily to make use of the notes.
Give yourself the gift of time and sit quietly to write little love notes or tickles to those who are embossed in your heart.

I got busy with life and have strayed away from this 'treat' to myself. For me the joy of letter writing is about to be renewed. I'm off to the papery today.

The rewards of sending a love letter straight from your heart is priceless. I want to feel the joy of that once again.
