Emerald : The Healer's Stone

Pantone, 'the world-renowned authority on color' describes their work as 'the global authority on color; inspiring artists, designers and stylists to color the world'. Even if your world was one of only black and white, Pantone is the authority who defines the shades and hues of those colours.

**  'colour' is a Canadian spelling and is used on this post unless a direct quote by Pantone is referenced.

As we welcome 2013, Pantone has chosen EMERALD as the 'color of the year'. When you discover the meanings tucked behind the spirit of the regal Emerald stone, it is obvious why the rich green shade will be the highlight in 2013.

So what does shade 17-5641 have to offer? Well, the powerful and multifaceted shade brings with it an aura of luxury, sophistication, elegance and power. It is with careful consideration that the colour leading our moods for 2013 is one that is regenerative, inspiring and balanced. Isn't this everything that the world is crying out for.

Albeit that you may not want to layer the walls of your bathroom {as above} in the colour of the year, injecting small hints of the powerful and energizing shade may be just what you need.

I had never been a fan of green; I've always been a pink, purple, blue kind of girl. Well, that's after loving Black and White. But then I met a wonderful friend who LOVED green. And of course, I fell in love with the friend first and since being around her wearing all the pretty green blouses made me happy, I fell in love with green too. I started wearing green and now feel a calmness and cozy feeling when I see the colour. In a happy way the colour always reminds me of my friend.

  1. Dear Katharine, green has been my FAVOURITE color for as long as I can remember! I don't wear it because I am fairly olive skinned, but I love it in everything else, perhaps because I am surrounded by it in my garden .....thank you for this post! I am using it fairly extensively in the new reno, as you will see soon....loved this post and beautiful photos and information on the colour green! N.xo

  4. I adore green Katherine! Always have since I was a little girl. I even painted my baby's first nursery green and my older daughter's room green. I know that's hard to believe after seeing my white, white house now, but I still feel like picking up a paintbrush dipped in a beautiful shade of green once in awhile.

I love all of these gorgeous images of emerald!!! Made my heart do a little flip in my chest when I saw them.
    Sending hugs your way...
